In seven years, it has accepted only one request for removal, out of 3000 received

The latest reports from leading tech companies show Wikipedia is behind Facebook and Google in content removal requests.

That Wikipedia accepts a request and removes the content is a remote possibility and a complex and time-consuming process for the user.

That is why ReputationUP has published a comprehensive guide on this process.

The full article is available on the ReputationUP website.

Content deletion by tech companies

As indicated by Wikimedia in its transparency report, from 2012 to 2019, the platform managed by Wikipedia removed only one content out of 3,000 requests.

These numbers are much lower than those of other tech companies, such as Google or Facebook.

In ten years, Google has received 10,000 requests to remove content.

On the other hand, the social network Facebook has received more than 70,000 requests since 2013, counting only those from India.

Wikipedia: the countries with the most requests

As stated in the report, Wikipedia’s most significant number of content removal requests come from the United States. There are 797, for 27.09% of the total.

In second place was Germany, with 305 requests, and third was France, with 199 applications.

ReputationUP: the alternative to Wikipedia

If you need to delete content immediately and permanently, Wikipedia does not allow it.

Big companies have very slow policies. As if that weren’t enough, most requests get a no in response.

In these cases, contacting ReputationUP is the best option. The company has 20 years of experience in online reputation management and content removal.
